Extrusion Molding

Extrusion moulding is similar to injection moulding except for the fact that the products manufactured are produced in a long continuous shape. The process involves melting granules into a liquid which is then forced through the die, to form a long tube-like shape, the shape of which depends on the shape of the die.
The shapes that result from extrusion moulding include circular sections, L-sections, I-sections, square sections, U-sections, and T-sections; the most famous product of extrusion moulding is the optical fibre cable, and the method is most commonly used to produce fibre, rods, curtain tracks, drinking straws, hoses, and pipes.
