The water jet cutter or the water jet is a tool that is capable of cutting a wide variety of materials. The water jet uses a very high-pressure jet of water, or a mixture of water and an abrasive to cut through various materials. A mixture of water and abrasive is generally used to cut hard materials such as metal or granite and is referred to as abrasive jet; while pure water jet or water-only cutting are used to cut through softer materials like wood or rubber and are performed without the use of added abrasives.
The process of water jet cutting is often used during the fabrication of machine parts. It is a preferred method when the materials that are to be cut are sensitive to high temperatures that can be generated by other methods.
